Dental implants are perhaps the pinnacle of tooth-replacement options, so it’s best to know as much as possible before choosing a dentist to receive the treatment from. Firstly, the dental implant procedure typically involves two stages: placement and restoration. Our team consists of oral surgeons who have extensive training in placing dental implants to ensure successful results. Various professional organizations provide advanced courses on dental implants, such as the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Fortunately, our dentists are active members of such organizations and regularly seek continuing education to remain up-to-date with the latest advances in the subject.
The cost for tooth extractions will vary based on geography as well as other factors like a patient’s dental health. In many cases, extractions throughout the United States can cost anywhere between $150 and $400, on average. The overall price can also be influenced by the complexity of the procedure. Any additional treatments needed, such as sedation dentistry, can also add to the cost. Wisdom teeth extractions typically come with a higher upfront cost and tend to require specialized services from oral surgeons. If you do have insurance, make sure to consult your provider about the details so you can make the most of your benefits!
One of the best tools for helping you make dental treatments manageable is dental insurance. If you have a provider, make sure to give them a call to discuss the details of your policy so that you can take full advantage of your benefits. Our team will also be more than happy to walk you through your plan and help file insurance claims so that the process is as smooth as possible. If you don’t have insurance, you might consider signing up for alternative financing options like CareCredit. With the help of this third-party financier, you can have monthly payment plans that split up the overall price of your treatment, and they typically come with little to no interest!
Every dentist in the United States must have studied at one of 67 accredited dental schools in the United States and earned either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS). Getting into one of these universities requires a bachelor’s degree, and typically high grades in majors heavy in science and math. In most cases, dental school takes 3 years to complete, with a combination of classroom time and hands-on experience. Some dentists go on to earn 1 of 12 specializations in dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association, such as dental implants, which often require 3 or more additional years of “dental school” training. Dentists also need to complete hours of continuing education every year to retain their license to practice.
