Will I have to take time off work for my surgery?

It depends on the severity of your case and the extent of your surgery. Our team believes it is necessary that you do not return to work on the day of your procedure, and we will likely recommend you take one or more additional days off as well. We will discuss the duration of your recovery and expectations during your initial appointment so that you are fully aware of how you can best prepare.

How long will it take me to recover from oral surgery?

There is no set timeframe for recovery, as every case is different. Only when you see us for a consultation will we be able to provide a clearer answer as to how long you can expect your recovery to last. For those receiving dental implants, it may take six months or more, while other procedures may only take a week or more to feel back to normal.

What should I eat right after oral surgery?

After your oral surgery, it is best if you stay away from hard and crunchy foods. You don’t want to apply any unnecessary pressure on your surgical sites, so it is suggested that you stick to a soft food diet. Eating soups, yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, and other similar foods will help you to heal without complications.

How will my pain be managed after oral surgery?

Depending on the complexity of your procedure, you may need prescription medication; however, if you only require minor treatment, you can likely manage the discomfort using an over-the-counter pain reliever. Many of our patients find that incorporating the use of a cold compress helps to reduce inflammation and minimize further pain.
